Final Scene (2000) |
||||
Final Scene - Prix d'Auteur (Bagnolet) 2000 Conceived as a continuation of the work "Sans la voix des Maitres " (Without the Masters' Voice), Final Scene is a piece for three female dancers which is based on scenes from the film Harakiri , a 1963 film, by Kobayashi. The film is a sort of confession/accusation of a ronin (a fallen samurai), narrated by the ronin himself, whilst sitting surrounded by his enemies. The piece appropriates gestures, images, movements from the film as the springboard for its choreography. With the desire to be everything (and everywhere) the dancer is in the middle of a choreographic construction and is simultaneously an invisible film character. Projections are integrated into the scenic space, based on the architecture of the film. Choreography and mise en scene: Johanne Saunier and Jim Clayburgh The piece is 45 minutes long. |
